Miguel and Ilaria Castillo

Miguel and Ilaria have been our global partners for 20 years. They live in Madrid, Spain, and serve as National Partners with East West International Ministries. Miguel and Ilaria's passion is for developing, discipling, and deploying young emerging leaders to plant new faith communities. They also have a contagious passion for training disciples who make other disciples to transform society with the gospel. They live in the heart of Madrid, Spain, and serve on the core leadership team of an urban church plant.  Miguel serves in the leadership team of M4 Spain, equipping and deploying dozens of church planters in Spain, and is the church planter coaching leader for M4 Europe, equipping the coaching coordinators in 16 nations across Europe, South Africa, and Australia. Ilaria is a textile artist and uses her art to connect with creatives and artists in Madrid. An interesting fact is that Miguel interned at The Vail Church in the summer of 2000 while finishing his studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.

We are Praying:

  • To send evangelists to their local body of believers and awaken the existing evangelists
  • For an army of healthy young leaders willing to pursue spiritual health to plant and lead new churches across Spain.
  • For young leaders to express and live out their faith in the realms of influence of society (education, health, religion/spirituality, business, government, entertainment/culture)
  • For Spiritual health in their lives and marriage
  • Financing for the monthly rental of a cooperative artist space for Ilaria to work alongside and reach creatives in the city.

Ministry Emphasis
Church Planting, Coaching, and Training, and using art to reach creatives in Madrid and Spain
About Spain
Although the country of Spain was once considered the “graveyard of missions,” it currently reports a 1.6% evangelical Christian association. The Castillo’s still give witness to God’s movement and see growing faith response among young people, those with mental health needs such as anxiety and depression, and among lonely people in populations such as the elderly, the singles, and the expats.
