Chris and Joyce Goppert

After years of dedicated missionary service in various capacities, Joyce and Chris have retired from full-time ministry in Zimbabwe.  Their contributions to the local community and the family of faith have left a lasting impact on the country. Joyce’s role as one of the forerunners to language instruction in Shona, her involvement in medical ministry, mentoring, and Chris’s leadership in pastoral care and lecturing at Harre Theological Academy have shaped the lives of many. Despite retirement, their commitment to Zimbabwe remains strong as they continue to visit, serve, and encourage the family of faith they invested 30 years into.  Additionally, Chris continues to exercise his gift as an author and contributes to many's ongoing spiritual growth and encouragement.

We Are Praying For

  • The return and reconciliation of dispersed leadership
  • A strong sense of community among the Zimbwean Church in the diaspora
  • Unity in the process of reconstruction
  • Provision as Zimbabwe is grappling with one of its worst droughts in over 40 years with more than 9.5 million people in need of food aid
Missionary Organization
Missionary Emphasis
Officially retired, Chris and Joyce serve in writing, piano accompaniment, teaching in-home groups, and leading Zoom bible studies with Zimbabwean believers.
About Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe’s weak economy, political unrest, and loss of opportunity have caused a mass exodus of individuals to surrounding African countries, referred to as the “brain drain.” The loss of intellectual capital and skills is felt in almost all sectors of society, including academia, business, politics, and ministry workers. Approximately 25% of Zimbabweans identify as evangelical Christians.
