In the Shadow of the Cross

Maundy Thursday brings us into the upper room, where Jesus transformed the ancient Passover meal by revealing that He Himself is the true Passover Lamb. The bread and cup point to His body and blood, given as a substitutionary sacrifice to deliver us from sin and death and establish a new covenant with God. At the Lord’s Table, we remember and personally receive what Christ has done for us while celebrating the new family His sacrifice has created. Under the shadow of the cross, we are also reminded of Jesus’ command to love one another as He has loved us.
